Walk in to Linares Mexican Restaurant and you'll be struck by the vivid colors of the booths, the tableware, the art and accessories, the flowers and plants. But the atmosphere and the food at Linares are no less striking than the decor – resulting in an authentic Mexican restaurant right in East Charlotte .

Owner Hector Trevino is from Monterrey , Mexico , a city just a couple of hours south of Laredo , Texas . Like any large country, the cuisine of Mexico differs from region to region. Since Hector hails from the north central part of Mexico , his menu highlights some of that region's best fare.

One popular dish from the Monterrey area is Queso Fundido, an appetizer with oven-melted cheese. At Linares , it can be ordered Natural (cheese only), con Carne (with grilled steak), or con Chorizo (with Mexican sausage). According to some native palates, the con Chorizo is “the best” and isn't available at other Mexican restaurants in the area!

The menu at Linares isn't limited to appetizers, though. Like many Mexican restaurants, you'll find grilled chicken; their menu cover boasts that Linares has been “making the best grilled chicken for more than 8 years!” Many of the other entrees are created around fish or seafood or shrimp. And the menu boasts 25 different “Platos 100% Mexicanos.” These combination plates come with every imaginable Mexican side item – plantains, rice and beans, charro beans, jalapeños, onions, salad – all delicious!

Linares has been a successful venture, with another restaurant on W. T. Harris Boulevard . And Hector is often in Georgia , attending to the business of the four restaurants there. When he's away, be sure to look for José Mendoza, the manager who wears the white chef's coat and sees that all is well – no matter when you choose to dine at Linares !
