Namaste

Type of Cuisine: Indian

Namaste India is owned by Nick Naik, an East African of Indian descent. Just prior to moving to Charlotte , Nick owned an Indian restaurant in England , where Indian cooking is the most popular cuisine in the country.

Nick's Charlotte restaurant is staffed by a curry chef as well as a tandoori chef. Tandoori is a cooking method that begins by marinating meat and then cooking the meat in a tandoor – a clay oven with a very hot charcoal fire.

Namaste's menu offers a large selection of dishes and includes appetizers, soup, salad, accompaniments, main courses, rice dishes, biriyani (a classic Mogul dish), Indian breads, and desserts. You'll find lamb, chicken, goat, and seafood; many vegetarian entrees; basmati rice; an array of spices including cumin, cardamom, ginger, and curry, to name a few. All these ingredients are characteristic of Indian cuisine. However, the hallmark of Namaste India is that each dish is prepared with special care and spices are adjusted, hot or mild, to suit your taste.

“Namaste” means both “hello” and “goodbye” in the Indian language and is an honored greeting. After dining at Namaste, you'll feel both honored - and satisfied!

(Please note that Nick has divided his business space into two distinct restaurants: Brazas Brazilian Grill and Namaste India . Brazas was purchased from a previous owner about five (5) years ago. On June 22, 2004, Nick divided the one restaurant into two and Namaste India was born!)
