Parthenon Café

Type of Cuisine: Greek

If you appreciate and enjoy Greek food, you'll love Parthenon Café. This little restaurant was established in 1991 and has received awards for serving up Charlotte 's best Greek food. In a city the size of Charlotte , with a long list of Greek restaurants, that's an endorsement.

Everything here is fresh and homemade. Heat lamps are not used and your meal isn't prepared until you order it. Even the menu is fresh. New items are constantly added to the already extensive list of appetizers, side orders, salads, hot subs, sandwiches, entrees, and combo meals.

When asking Alberto – the manager - about the restaurant's specialties, he immediately begins describing the gyro strips. This traditional Greek dish is made of shaved lamb and beef and spices. The gyro meat is then placed in strips on pita bread with lettuce, onion, tomato, and the Parthenon's homemade cucumber sauce. Another menu item Alberto endorses is the Greek fries - potato wedges sprinkled with Parthenon's homemade blend of seasonings.

The baklava was also on Alberto's list. It, too, is homemade. And it you're in the mood for ice cream, the Ice Cream Hut, where Blue Bunny ice cream is featured, is now open inside Parthenon Café.

Parthenon is open 362 days a year, closing only on Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. The menu is available dine in, take out, or by delivery. (Deliveries are made within the area bordered by Harris Boulevard/North Tryon/Downtown/Cotswold. Also of note – Spanish is spoken at the restaurant. No excuses not to enjoy Parthenon Café!
