A Culinary Oasis
International Cuisine. Local Flavor.
Our popular 2011 Taste of the World event highlighted twenty-four restaurants from five continents and as we know, there are so many more unique restaurants here! Fortunately, we do not suffer from the blight of a "chain-dominated landscape that doesn't cultivate culinary independence" --a descriptor used recently by the Charlotte Observer editorial board to describe Charlotte's reputation. Instead, the delectable flavors emanating from our "mom and pop" restaurants and specialty grocery stores spark wonderful memories of home--whether we're from the Southern US or from across the world!
Taste of the World is truly an event to savor all year long! Imagine giving a friend or bringing home that luscious dish you can't forget, a gift certificate for an exotic dinner out or an example of art for sale that you saw at Intermezzo or Bistro La Bon! Or relaxing at Dim Sum authentic Chinese restaurant, in the heart of the Central Avenue International Corridor while tasting "dim sum," their delectable appetizers! While apparently, even in New York, it is unusual to be served dim sum except on select days, we can feast on these delicacies every day!
Be sure to check back with us on this Taste of the World page for more stories and more information about our participating restaurants.
Unique Art Awaits You at Dim Sum
When you enter Dim Sum on Central Avenue, please take time to experience the beautiful canvas, a painting that in many ways illustrates the heartbeat of east Charlotte--our story. Click here to learn more. >
