Executive Director

Greg Asciutto

Greg Asciutto is CharlotteEAST's Executive Director. After graduating from the University of Southern California with a B.A. in Journalism, he returned to his native North Carolina in 2014 with a desire to teach and live in East Charlotte, where he spent significant time during his youth. Greg worked as an English teacher at Garinger High School for 10 years, became board chair of CharlotteEAST in 2022, then became the organization's first executive director in 2024.

His work at the intersection of education, community-building, and poverty alleviation has garnered him recognition both inside and outside of classroom; he has been named a 2018 CMS Teacher of the Year, the 2019 United Way of Central Carolinas’ Civil Servant of the Year, one of Elevate Lifestyle’s 30 under 30 Charlotte Leaders, and the 2023 City of Charlotte’s Educator Mentor of the Year.
