United Way Community Quarterback: CharlotteEAST is pleased to serve as one of two community quarterbacks serving the Albemarle/Central corridor through the United Way of Greater Charlotte's United Neighborhoods initiative. Through United Neighborhoods, United Way is working alongside each neighborhood’s community quarterback, a lead organization that engages residents, builds local leadership and coordinates services among the funded nonprofits. We are pleased to serve the Albemarle/Central corridor in conjunction with ourBRIDGE for KIDS. Learn more here.
-
Monthly Eastside community forum: CharlotteEAST hosts a virtual meeting on the second Wednesday of each month (3:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.). These conversations are agenda-driven with news and updates from the forces working for the betterment of East Charlotteans.
-
Violence mitigation: In May of 2024, CharlotteEAST kicked off a long-term effort to address violent crime in East Charlotte with help from more than a dozen eastside partners, including Promise Youth Development, ourBRIDGE for KIDS, Simmons YMCA, Hampshire Hills, Shannon Park, and Farm Pond neighborhood associations. As part of this work, we’ve identified five violent “hot spots” in the greater Eastland area, the most critical being the Milton Road thoroughfare, and worked with the Mecklenburg County Office of Violence Prevention to bring support to the area.

Central Avenue cleanups: See here for more details; 2025 dates are available on our community calendar.

Social service support: Have questions or need help with housing, utilities, transportation, immigrant services, legal support, or affordable healthcare? While CharlotteEAST is not a service provider, our team has extensive knowledge of the resources available in our community, as well as strong partnerships with the people who provide them.
